ANTIFLESH is one of those bands that reminds me the true Black metal feeling as music and evokes great memories. Since I heard the first promotional songs from the Hosana album, I was trapped in that cold sound of the past. As it is known by everyone, Poland has great exponents in this genre, but it is time to include this quartet in that Black metal altar. Without further ado, here I leave you with this breathtaking interview and you can purchase their music through the Polish label Theogonia Records.
How would you describe ANTIFLESH’s journey since you guys started back in 2013? “… Constant changes, or rather very frequent changes of people with whom you can play. Unfortunately, most people think that they can't give anything and they will get everything, unfortunately it doesn't work that way. Giving yourself 100% all the time and improving your game is 80% of our time, the rest is work and home. Musically, we also made a lot of progress - we focused on backgrounds and atmosphere rather than speed and total fury. This may be due to the fact that we have matured enough to do it and present it in the same form as on the album "Hosanna"…”
Do you acknowledge any band/s in particular as your driving force from Poland? “… We don't have a role model like the band that drives us, we all listen to different music, from KATATONIA through FUNERAL MIST to GUTALAX. The only common denominator is - we like old music, we don't follow trends, we play what we like. The only Polish bands that shaped me and influenced the way I play are CHRIST AGONY, THUNDERBOLT or even BESATT…”
Hosanna is the title of your second album and is a powerful and ancient expression of praise and adoration in Christian worship, but I wonder if in ANTIFLESH’s context would have the same interpretation. “… This name combined with the cover, or rather a photo taken on the ruins of a German concentration camp located near us, rather says "and where is your god now" or "your god overslept again". The same in combination with music that is in the atmosphere of nihilism, depression, human self-loss…”

June 14th is set for your second album Hosanna to be released by Theogonia Records. How do you feel about releasing this album through a Polish label? “… We are very pleased with the cooperation. It's rare to find someone like Chrys, who is always in touch and you can see that he cares about the bands he releases…”
Do you think that those who praise the debut album Ashes will continue to enjoy what’s inside Hosanna? “… Hosanna is a different album from Ashes. More melody, space, various instruments other than standard guitars, bass and drums appeared. We also used acoustic guitars, tambourines and lots of other oddities for the first time. The first comments have already been made that the album is much better than the debut…”
How did you approach the recording of this new album? Did you guys enjoy the recording process or was it a stressful one? “… We recorded the album in our recording studio. (Shaman's Records/ https://www.facebook.com/shamansrecords and we invite bands from all over the world to cooperate) which makes the recording process much easier and stress-free. We had time to think through each track, change concepts and try new things without having to worry about the time…”
Have you noticed that the promo lyric video for “Funeral Whore” has more views in Theogonia’s YouTube channel than in yours? How do you see the band fitting in the world of social media? “… It's normal that the label/publisher always has a greater reach than the band. In today's world, unfortunately, it is difficult to stand out without advertising on social media. Every now and then, people are bombarded with new information about bands, publishing houses, etc. Unfortunately, we failed in this area, none of us is 20 years old anymore and sometimes it is difficult for us to get used to constant promotion in social media and on new platforms…”
Will there be any show or tour scheduled to celebrate and promote the new album? Are there more plans for the remaining year? “… We will play a few concerts this year, including Rotten Fest in the Czech Republic and Niech Cisza Milczy in Poland. Unfortunately, due to other bands in which we are also involved, we cannot focus 100% attention only on ANTIFLESH…”

What’d be your words for those who are introduced to ANTIFLESH through this dialogue for the first time? “… I invite you to listen to the album Hosanna and previous releases. Let darkness and uncertainty consume you…”
