BAND OF THE WEEK:
DESERT NEAR THE END
NOMINATED BY SCRIPTORIUM MAGAZINE
The origin:
“… We formed DESERT NEAR THE END in 2009, but we are playing together since 1998.We are from Athens, Greece. During our last school year Alexandros and me (Akis) decided to start creating songs in the likeness of our favorite bands and the rest is our history…”
The Sixth album:
“… The title of our new album is "Tides of Time" and will be released on December 6th by Theogonia Records. And if we were to write a studio report about it, we would say that we are recording our most epic, heavy and melodic material. We like to write about myths and history viewed through a dark fantasy lens. We also like to create our own stories or be inspired by our favorite books and films…”
The sound:
“… There was never a question about our musical genre or sound. We grew up with this sound and it was a one-way street for us and frankly I don't know a better form that can express such a variety of emotions and stories. We have a very strong Greek metal scene, and the scene support its bands! I don't think we're getting more praised from outside, it's actually quite balanced! I only wish we had the chance to travel more for lives outside our area…”
The expectations:
“… We are rehearsing the new album and planning about some videos for some of the new songs. The band wants to be able to do this for many more years and to have people to share our music with. We expect to promote our new album and do as many lives as possible. Follow the path across the Desert!
The members:
“… Alexandros Papandreou (vocals), Spyros Vasilakis (guitars), Jason Ioakeim (guitars), Akis Prasinikas (bass) and Stelios Pepinidis (drums)…”
